On Behalf of | Apr 26, 2024 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Nearly every day, hundreds to thousands of auto accidents happen. There is no one reason for all of these auto accidents; every auto accident is unique. However, many auto accidents are caused by similar causes.

Here are some of the most common causes of motor vehicle collisions:

Drunk driving

Drunk driving is extremely dangerous. Alcohol impairs the driver’s senses that are necessary for safe vehicle operation. A driver who is drunk may have impaired vision and focus, poor judgment and late reaction speed. Many drunk driving accidents happen around bars and at night.

Distractions

A driving distraction is anything that can cause a driver to look away from the road or take their hands off the wheel. Nearly every driver has become distracted while operating a vehicle. However, constant distractedness can lead to vehicle crashes. Many of the most common driving distractions include phone use, eating and changing the radio or AC.

Sleepiness

Many people do not realize the danger of driving while drowsy. Drowsy driving may be as bad as drunk driving and can lead to many of the similar effects. A drowsy driver may be more likely to fall asleep behind the wheel.

Aggression

A driver who becomes aggravated can endanger themselves and others. A driver may speed, tailgate or violate traffic laws when they become aggressive. Aggression could cause a driver to go from negligent to reckless.

Night driving

Many auto accidents happen at night. Most of these accidents happen because drivers have lower visibility in the dark. Night time driving can also lead to drowsiness.
