Drivers need to watch out for motorcyclists when at intersections

This tragedy nonetheless is a good opportunity to remind the drivers on Kentucky’s roads to watch out for motorcycles when at intersections.

Over 40% of all deadly motorcycle accidents happen at intersections. More specifically, drivers who are not paying as much attention as they should tend to turn left in front of an oncoming motorcycle.

It is very important for people at intersections to pay careful attention, even taking some additional time to check and double check for motorcycles, especially if there is something like a tree, a large vehicle or even bright sun that could obstruct a person’s view.

If a motorcycle is approaching, the driver should also consider allowing the motorcycle to pass, as a motorcycle’s speed and distance are hard to judge.

Obviously, drunk or distracted drivers are a serious hazard to motorcyclists anywhere, but especially at intersections.

A motorcyclist, or a grieving family, is entitled to compensation if a careless driver causes an accident.
